can you believe that misha collins read a script that introduced this fearsome, stoic, dutiful angel as some simple, easily replaceable “plot twist” and somehow understood who castiel was so deeply that he not only managed to turn this “3 episode arc” subplot character into an integral part of the show’s entire thematic storyline and messaging, but also give an 11 year-long performance that stayed true to that deeper characterization before the writers themselves knew where castiel’s journey would lead, so much so that cas’ ultimate declaration is so gutwrenchingly heartbreaking because in hindsight there’s never been any other choice for this selfless, openhearted angel .................fuckin king shit

For casting they told everyone they were auditioning to play a demon because they didn’t want it to leak that they were adding angels to the show

Misha’s audition was intriguing enough that they decided to tell him the role was for an angel just so they could see him read it again with the proper character in mind

They broke their own rule about secrecy because Misha inspired them. And then he went on to play an angel that broke all the rules

misha’s been making the spn writers break their own rules since before he was on the show.
